I have been SOOOO busy lately and have decided to post a brief summary of whats been going on. Here is where I will begin.
CT3 and I FINALLY got our house together. It has been put together for the most part, but we were missing a few things here and there. After our Savannah trip, we picked up a few local artist prints, framed them and hung them. With curtains and pictures, our house actually looks pretty good! Here’s a pic of our room:
So the week begins and the house is clean…it didnt last long. Monday rolls around, I have probably already trashed the house, and then the storms roll in. I was at clogging and when I drove up, it looked like a tornado had taken out my street:
So, ‘curious Lauren’ goes out to check storm damage and the like. Oddly enough, it was all on the other side of the street so we had no problems or no damage to our house. I walk back inside and a few minutes later, I hear a loud engine. Thinking, hmm, that sounds like a fire truck, I walk out side. Here is what I see:
Yep, husband and crew had driven to the house in the engine. I shouldnt say driven to the house, cause they were actually out cutting trees, cleaning roads and running calls and it happened to be convenient to park in front of our house. It made me laugh, so I took a picture.
Through out the week, I worked on new craft projects (will post soon), made a honeymoon scrapbook (which got delivered today!!), went shopping, cooked (wifey duties) and excersised a lot. I have officially signed up for the half marathon at Thanksgiving, so I am starting the long training road! I also bought CT3 a stellar gift, however I am so proud of that, I will save it for a new post…and wait til the suprise gets delivered!
One evening, we went for a bike ride. We have started to bike every where it is possible. Since we live near a bunch of commercial things, it makes it fairly easy. Here is a pic from when we went for an 8 mile ride, then went to Target, then out to Zaxby’s for dinner. Yes, you can thank us for going green and saving the environment.
The weekend finally rolled around and I was headed north to hang out with my high school besties and celebrate Emily getting married! Poor CT3 had to stay home and do fire training and also work. He wouldnt have enjoyed ladies weekend as much as I did anyway.
After a great weekend with the girls, I head home…CT3 had given me back roads, and though his directions were good, he forgot to tell me one key thing…take the split. He mentioned the road forked, he just forgot to tell me to make that turn. I kept driving and ended up an hour and change further than I should have been. OOPS!
I finally whipped out the map and got myself back on a side road that would cut back west. Well, after a few miles on that road, I approached big flashing organge signs shouting “ROAD CLOSED.” Great. I pulled over, got my bearings for the third time and took another detour. CT3 called me when I was about an hour out, and helped me find my way back to a more familiar road….I guess the ole saying about “if there is a fork in the road, take it” turned out to be true!
Anyhoo, a new week has begun. Unfortunately this week, clogging was cancelled, but I got to go to the fire station for dinner, so in the end I was glad. I also hung out for training time, and learned more than you would ever want to know about ventilating a house…The free time was nice as it also allowed me to spend time clipping coupons, organizing that system, making grocery lists, making a calendar for CT3 and I and other things of the like.
That brings us to last night. I didnt feel like cooking dinner so we did our standard hop on a bike and ride and get something. We carry it back in a backpack and then set it on plates to eat. Well, I had gotten a caesar salad, so I put the dressing on it in its plastic case and shook it up. I shook it really well until….
So, thats been my past 7 days or so! This weekend we are headed out of town again for Emily’s wedding! She will be a beautiful bride and I am sure next week I will post pics of the shin dig! Until then…
Okay, I have my new kicks (see White Lightening post), my iPod is all charged and filled with favorite songs, now I just need a plan.
I just couldn’t imagine starting a blog and not mentioning the newest (and greatest) occurrence in my life. MARRIAGE!! On April 5, CT3 and I tied the knot. The wedding was perfect and was truly a dream come true-thanks mom and dad! The church we were married in was the same church my parents got hitched in, and the reception was in downtown Atlanta. It was amazing to be surrounded by my family and friends on this wonderful day as I married my best friend!
I have to brag for a second here…Hubby and I had the best wedding party you could ever imagine…Eleven (aside) of our best friends, our great friend and mentor performing the service, the most wonderful photographer and hairstylist/makeup artist and the phenomenal-ist Maid of Honor and Flower Girls you have EVER seen!!!!!!!…..in fact, I am considering renting out my MOH and FG’s just cause they were THAT good and THAT beautiful…It was perfect.
Anyhoo, so that was the wedding. If you want more details, ask me later. As for “normal” life, we have been married for around 2 months and I guess you could say we have adjusted, or have adjusted as much as we can. The challenge comes in the fact that the hubby is on night shift. We are on total opposite schedules. Yes, completely opposite. For example, yesterday I came home from work and cooked tacos for dinner. I literally walked into our bedroom at about 6:30 pm and woke him for his “taco breakfast”….complete with salsa, cheeses and sour cream.
How disgusting is that??? If I were a good wife, I would be making him eggs, bacon and biscuts. Instead I make tacos [VOMIT HERE]. The good news is that he will be going to days soon, so for once we will be on a similar schedule. He is a trooper when it comes to flipping his body back and forth from day time to night time, though we will both be thankful when he can live as a normal person and not have to try to stay up for 30 straight hours just to have a social life.
We love our house and have quickly settled here. Other than that I am just trying to learn the ropes of how to be a good little wifey. If any of you out there have suggestions, please feel free to send my way!!! Here are the current things I am working on:
- I dont like cooking, yet am trying a few times a week (please send me easy quick recipes -I am desperate for help).
- I hate cleaning and can’t say I have tried very hard. I know, I just need to suck it up, get over myself and do it.
- I need a routine. We tried walking, after I get home from work and when he first wakes up, but there just arent enough hours in the day…and I was getting fat. Ha. So I joined a gym and he gets an extra hour of sleep or goes on his own. Getting into a routine is a pain in the booty.
Those are the biggies. All that said, stuff will slow for the summer. The past two weekends we were at weddings (I will post pics soon) and for the next month we dont have a thing on the schedule!!! It will be nice, but weird not having anything to do. My grand plan is to set goals for the above mentioned items, try and get in a routine here and make friends!!!!!!!
THEN, after this summer and finally ‘being settled,’ I will start grad school. Five years later I am going back to once again be a student. I guess working for a college has inspired me. My schedule and routine which I will build over summer, will be in shambles and hubby and I will be back at square one…at least this time he will be on day shift!!!
Thats the latest and greatest. Here are a few more wedding pics…
