I love these Five on Friday posts! They are a great way for me to round out the week and every time I write one, not only is it a fun walk through of how I spend my days, but its a reminder that the weekend has arrived!
Here’s this weeks five for ya!
We have had multiple doctor trips this week. Ear infections and well checks have worn us out and thankfully – and finally, all kids are finally well.
One of the trips to the office, I had all three with me and we had one pitching a fit on the floor, the other crying, the other flopping around all in between LOUDLY singing “Hakuna Matata” as they shoved the iPhone in the doctors face….usually, the iPhone is enough to distract the others while I talk to the doctor, but today it was a no go. We had two potty breaks for two kids – as the doctor sat and patiently waited on us to return. I kept threatening to put all kids in separate corners and kept yelling, “to GET OFF THE FLOOR WHERE THROW UP GERMS LIVE.”
It was during nap time, so I know they were off schedule, but was definitely not one of our finest trips out.
We had another trip this week where instead of going to the potty, I had a child – not naming any names to protect the potty training one 😉 – who decided that he would just stand in the middle of the room and go on the floor. Its been awhile since we have had an accident (so thankful for that) but I just wished that it wasnt in the middle of the floor in a place where we ALWAYS have to cause a scene!
I have decided that not only are pediatricians a calling from the medical standpoint, but from the must have the patience of Job and the ability to support moms who just want to scream, cry and hide in the midst of the long toddler days!
Our pediatrician’s office is just that and their staff are surely earning jewels in their crown. One of the days, the doctor joined my kids in the chorus of “Hakuna Matata” and the other day, the Office Manager and all were singing and dancing to “Step-In-Time” as I cleaned up the potty mess. Bless them…and bless me, right!?
Here they were on the way home – clearly tired from the doctors trip antics! Praising the Lord today for well babies and for wonderful doctors and if your office is not like ours, just know they are out there! We tried four practices in our new area before we found them and though the hopping around was stressful, it was well worth it.
My Grandmother passed away towards the end of summer. I shared her fudge recipe then as a tribute to her. We are getting together with my Dad’s side of the family this weekend to celebrate her life and it only seemed right that we bake some of Grandma’s bread to take to them all. No doubt, Grandma would have gobs of goodies for us all and so my best girl helped me make some of her Yeast Bread.
I am going to update the recipe for you all soon but til then, just know that my house smells delish and I may or may not have already done a taste test!
