Happy Halloween! I am sitting here eating candy by the fistful, so I figured I would put that aside and instead share a few pictures of our night and of our Halloween festivities!
Earlier this week, we took the kids to their schools fall festival. They do a huge one every year and it has games, contests, free food and more. We had a blast and I was thrilled that Mary Poppins, Bert and their Penguin wanted to don their costumes again and they even took home first place in the costume contest!
They have truly loved being Bert, Mary and Penguin and I have loved them getting so much use out of them! So far, they have worn them at Disney, for their character day parade at school, to their fall festival, tonight for Halloween and they will get at least one more wear out of them come next week – as Brother has begged for a “Bert and Step-In-Time” Birthday party.
Mary Poppins appeared again tonight for some Trick or Treating action and this time two chimney sweeps popped in!
The kids kept asking “what Mommy and Daddy were going to be” and since we were headed to a friends house where families would all be dressed, we found some black attire in our closet, picked up our hats at Walmart, spray painted the broom black and dabbed some black eyeshadow on our cheeks and added to the theme.
I snapped a quick selfie and texted it to my Mom, Dad and Sister with the words, “Churrrr-roooooooo!!” Seemed appropriate since that’s like the official chimney sweep talk or greeting or call, right!?
While I am not much of a Halloween person and while I definitely am not a dresser upper, I’ll admit it was fun! So much fun, in fact, that my brain already has about 40 ideas for next time “we all get to dress up”…..My hubs is very tired of hearing these ideas that I keep yapping about, so if anyone else wants to have a non-Halloween dress up party with me, let me know. 😉
Our friends had salad, pizza and lasagna for all and we hung out and chatted for a bit before we gathered to Trick or Treat.
Little Annie M was leading the pack as they ran from house to house. She was in high heels and it didn’t phase her a bit. Did I tell you that the day she wore them to Disney she said to me in her most southern drawl, “Mama. You know these high heels just weren’t made for walking, doncha?” Ha! She is a mess but the non-walking shoes didn’t slow her down a bit tonight.
Brother chased right along and Moose and I walked some and eventually, I put him in the stroller. It was fun to watch my two bigs enjoy the evening with their friends and it blows my mind to think that next year, all three of them will be right in all of the action!
