I keep coming across more holiday pictures on my phone and computer and more highlights from last month. They are just too fun not to share, so consider this another Christmas 2016 wrap up – major photo dump post.
I mentioned in (THIS post that I posted yesterday but back dated) that Annie M helped my Hubs chop down wood and that in her opinion, it was not all it was cracked up to be. So when Daddy asked who wanted to help unload the car that same afternoon, you can bet who wanted to hang out inside with me and who wanted to haul wood.
A little bit about Brother. He turned four in November. The three’s were a challenging year. Everyone says that for boys, three is harder than two and its the truth. In his defense, he has had a lot going on this year – my pregnancy, new baby, dropping his nap, finally stopped having night terrors, etc. and I am proud of him and proud of us for staying the course.
He is a fabulous little helper and will be the first to do something without my asking. He will see that the bathroom needs toilet paper and just do it. Or he recognized that lights have been left on and that I will fuss at them for that and before asking, he goes and turns them off. He loves to set the table, serve everyone their plates and doesn’t mind helping with dishes.
Morning times, he gets himself 110% ready on his own. That did take a bit of marshmallow bribery a day or two to keep him from fussing, but by George, we have done it. He will kill a spider if I squeal, hold our hands “so we don’t get lost” and open doors. In fact, if a grown up tries to take the door from him, he usually tells them to go on ahead and he has it. Ha!
He constantly holds the baby and will sing, hold his hand and give him pacis when he fusses. He will walk up to adults, put his hand out and politely introduce himself and his favorite thing in the world is to have his back tickled and be sung to. He loves being praised and has thrived this year at school with a chart.
One of my favorite things is to commend him and just watch his eyes fill with joy.
We have a few little things we are working on…his sassy faces occasionally towards me and him saying words that we don’t allow (don’t get too excited – they are pretty lame – butt and stupid). He heard others saying it and picked up quick, but I’ve been all over him and am nipping it in the bud. I can hear yall rolling your eyes at me. Yup, I’m just that conservative. We don’t use those words and thats that.
He will also tell you “I am faster than you…” or “I am smarter…” blah, blah, blah. He is not lacking in confidence, which I am thankful for, we are just trying to work on the way it is communicated. 😉
Anyway, the little man is quite a joy to have around and I am thankful that he is mine. It was fun watching him and Sissy enjoy the holidays too. Those two are thick as thieves and I love watching them as siblings.
As for other holiday activities, I had some quality girl time with my high school BFF’s. We spent one evening breaking out the old high school notes and laughing til we cried over them. The topics we wrote about and the number of times we said things like “wuzzzzzz upppp” and “LYLAS” was nothing short of amazing!
After Christmas, we all got together for a play date and lunch and basically took over the restaurant. The adults were way outnumbered by our munchkins!
Other holiday happenings included kids school parties, decorating cookies with friends, tacky sweater parties, visits with Santa and outings with the kids.
So thankful for my people and the fun we have!
(also thankful to be done with holiday posts! 😉 )
