GLO and LESLIE: DO NOT READ THIS POST. IT WILL RUIN YOUR SURPRISE…..
I may have been inspired…
Here’s how it all began. I was watching the show “America’s Got Talent.” They were doing auditions in Atlanta, GA and the announcer says, “performing next, a group of cloggers…”
That peaked my interest because as a little girl and growing up (well, until I started to play soccer competitively) I clogged. I was cute back then and enjoyed my clogging days. I picked it back up my senior year in high school, when I needed a talent for my high school pageant competition…yall are learning quite a bit you never knew about me, huh???
Tomboy who clogged and was actually in a girly pageant, yes, it happened once. Anyway, senior year, I joined the troupe and took a few lessons to brush up and polish my routine. I performed that year to “We’re From the Country” and though I didn’t win, I was darn good. Maybe one day I will post the video. NOT!!!
So, back to the show. The cloggers come out. I look up, slightly cock my head as I realize that one of them ABOUT TO TRY OUT, was my former teacher! I frantically called mom and dad so they could watch…well, the “Southern Belles” clogged wonderfully and made it through to Vegas, the next stage of the competition. I will admit here, that the show is slightly lame, and not half of what American Idol is, but I was definitely pumped to see my “friend” on the show.
So, you say, Lauren, that’s great, but what does this have to do with inspiration??? Well, lets just say one thing led to the next. I remembered a friend had blogged about her recent experiences going back to tap dancing. She seems to be enjoying it…I went back and read those posts. Click here and here. Then I did what any good web stalker would do. I googled it:
What do you know, like 6, YES six clogging places come up and all in cities within 20 minutes.
Oh great. Thanks a lot lady on t.v. and Lindsay. Now I want to go and clog….I wont have a Lindsay or a fun friend like hers with me, but I can still go back, right??? I even have fake wooden floors in my house that will be phenomenal for practicing on!
Well, I haven’t mentioned it to CT3 yet and I am slightly afraid he will laugh at me. Then he will tell me with grad school, working full time and trying to be a good little wifey there probably aren’t enough hours in the day….then if I REALLY beg, he will say fine, go for it. Money wise, it will only be for the lessons. In the middle of nowhere, they can’t be THAT expensive. I already have the shoes (black and white-i.e. practice and performing…yes, both) and sometimes cloggers wear short skirts…he could go for that, right???
I plan on continuing to investigate. Maybe I will be bold and email the ladies in charge. They don’t have websites, as I am afraid this far out, half of the people don’t even know what the world wide web is. I’ll keep you posted.
Between this, water aerobics and my mailing fish ministry, I lead a pretty exciting life…oh and for the record, Jerry Springer hosts the show. Bahahhahahahahaa!!!!!
Does ANYONE out there know a company that packages fish (live) and sends them via mail???!
I had this revolutionizing idea today to send my favorite little children, Selah and Ansley, some fish. They are at the Ranch and though cards and candy are fun to get in the mail, think of HOW COOL getting a fish would be….granted, I can only imagine their sweet little faces as they opened up a package filled with floating, bellie side up fish, and for that reason I MUST find the right company!!!!
I had considered Toys R Us stuff, then thought of hermit crabs, then fish came to mind….
…I am thinking Jen and Jonathan may kill me for this one, but oh well, its worth a shot. If any of you readers have ever mailed fish before and have a reliable source, please let me know. If not, I may have to go with the traditional ant farm. If you have any other suggestions on cool things to mail, lemme know. K, thanks??
Ha! I knew they were around here somewhere….the secret is out!! We have found the place where the crazy people (myself included) worship!!! Hands raised, jumping, praising, youth making a train and prancing around the church, yup, we’ve found it! …dont get all scared people. Its basically just a happening concert for Jesus. Just like people jump and cheer and dance, etc for Dave Matthews, Tim McGraw, [insert your favorite musical artist here], we getting crunk the same, just in the church to our favorite worship music!
Tonight our church (which will remain nameless for the closet charismatics still trying to protect themselves…and for the blog stalkers whom I dont want them to know where I live) had a worship service. It was just a time for the congregation to get together and praise and it was AWESOME.
Oh, you don’t even know…..
