I just couldn’t imagine starting a blog and not mentioning the newest (and greatest) occurrence in my life. MARRIAGE!! On April 5, CT3 and I tied the knot. The wedding was perfect and was truly a dream come true-thanks mom and dad! The church we were married in was the same church my parents got hitched in, and the reception was in downtown Atlanta. It was amazing to be surrounded by my family and friends on this wonderful day as I married my best friend!
I have to brag for a second here…Hubby and I had the best wedding party you could ever imagine…Eleven (aside) of our best friends, our great friend and mentor performing the service, the most wonderful photographer and hairstylist/makeup artist and the phenomenal-ist Maid of Honor and Flower Girls you have EVER seen!!!!!!!…..in fact, I am considering renting out my MOH and FG’s just cause they were THAT good and THAT beautiful…It was perfect.
Anyhoo, so that was the wedding. If you want more details, ask me later. As for “normal” life, we have been married for around 2 months and I guess you could say we have adjusted, or have adjusted as much as we can. The challenge comes in the fact that the hubby is on night shift. We are on total opposite schedules. Yes, completely opposite. For example, yesterday I came home from work and cooked tacos for dinner. I literally walked into our bedroom at about 6:30 pm and woke him for his “taco breakfast”….complete with salsa, cheeses and sour cream.
How disgusting is that??? If I were a good wife, I would be making him eggs, bacon and biscuts. Instead I make tacos [VOMIT HERE]. The good news is that he will be going to days soon, so for once we will be on a similar schedule. He is a trooper when it comes to flipping his body back and forth from day time to night time, though we will both be thankful when he can live as a normal person and not have to try to stay up for 30 straight hours just to have a social life.
We love our house and have quickly settled here. Other than that I am just trying to learn the ropes of how to be a good little wifey. If any of you out there have suggestions, please feel free to send my way!!! Here are the current things I am working on:
- I dont like cooking, yet am trying a few times a week (please send me easy quick recipes -I am desperate for help).
- I hate cleaning and can’t say I have tried very hard. I know, I just need to suck it up, get over myself and do it.
- I need a routine. We tried walking, after I get home from work and when he first wakes up, but there just arent enough hours in the day…and I was getting fat. Ha. So I joined a gym and he gets an extra hour of sleep or goes on his own. Getting into a routine is a pain in the booty.
Those are the biggies. All that said, stuff will slow for the summer. The past two weekends we were at weddings (I will post pics soon) and for the next month we dont have a thing on the schedule!!! It will be nice, but weird not having anything to do. My grand plan is to set goals for the above mentioned items, try and get in a routine here and make friends!!!!!!!
THEN, after this summer and finally ‘being settled,’ I will start grad school. Five years later I am going back to once again be a student. I guess working for a college has inspired me. My schedule and routine which I will build over summer, will be in shambles and hubby and I will be back at square one…at least this time he will be on day shift!!!
Thats the latest and greatest. Here are a few more wedding pics…
Great news!!! Upon sensing my sadness over the flashlight fiasco, CT3 went out this morning and got me a new one!!! What a great guy! He surprised me as he bought it and snuck it into my bedside table drawer without me even knowing.
The flashlight sounds like a common little household item that most people have, yeah?? Well, with the vicious storms we have sustained lately, my flashlight has been my comfort, and lived by my side. I would be stuck home alone in the dark, and there he was, Mr. Flashlight, standing by to faithfully rescue me the second that the power would go out.
Well, my flashlight was not my own. It was CT3’s and much to my dismay, he actually uses it for work, firefighting, etc. Just as quickly as I had gotten it, it was taken away. As he pried it from my desprate little fingertips (okay, so he really just took it back out of the bedroom), he promised he’d get me another one.
A couple of days later he had fulfilled his promise and bought me my own brand spankin new flashlight! I know what you’re thinking…why is this chic excited about a flashlight? Well, when your husband works nights and the power goes out at 3 am and you cant even see your own nose, Mr. Flashlight becomes a life saver.
Yesterday rolls around, he brings up the flashlight…I get all excited and ask estatically, “oh yeah! where is it!?” CT3 just burst out laughing. As I inquired about his laughter, he told me that a lady at work needed to borrow it. Fine, I am thinking…loan MY new toy to her. Whatever. It is just a flashlight, right???
Well, him being the wonderful gentleman he was, had gone into work and when the lady asked to borrow one he told her he had a new one she could use. Apparantly, the lady thought he had bought it/given it to HER. What CT3 was loaning-MY flashlight, she took as a gift. Yes, not only that, but then went around the plant telling everyone about how sweet he was and boasting of her new light. She thanked him profusely and CT3 was a hero for the night. Given her excitement over the petty item, he could not dare break her heart with the news that IT WASNT HERS!!!!!!!!!! Now I am once again stuck without, though justified in that I am not the only one who gets excited about flashlights.
Maybe I am just doomed to be stuck in the dark…
P.S. I swear I wont only write about random objects and food…though food is a top concern, be prepared for a real life update soon!!!
So, this is how my morning began. I woke up late and in a frenzy. Typical. If you have known me for longer than a minute, you have probably been at one point in time asked to be my faithful alarm calling to “make sure I am awake.” Well, today Jessica texted me, and no, I didnt even hear it, much less see it, til I was almost to work.
No worries though. I was still on time and even managed to pour some Cinnamon Toast Crunch into a little baggie so I would have breakfast. Please note here, that on my drive to work, I made a concious effort NOT to stop at Starbucks, though I wanted it SOOOOOO badly. I walk in to work, boot up the ole computer and get settled for the day. My stomach lets out a ginormous gurgle. I pull out my purse to get my little stash and what do you know, it has dumped all in my purse.
Yes. All over my purse. Ladies, my purse has all sort of little compartments and side pockets, which from here on out will have the sweet aroma of cinnamon and probably even be sweet to the taste, if one should dare taste it….
What do I proceed to do?? Like any good heathly hungry woman, I dig in. Heck, instead of eating out of the plastic bag, I just eat out of my purse.
Thankfully, my purse didnt have too much in it, so I was able to pull out my billfold and a couple of reciepts and eat every measly square of my breakfast. Though the squares hadnt been damaged they were sorely lacking the cinnamon sugar part which now nicely decorates the floor of my purse.
Lets just say breakfast wasnt all it was cracked up to be…I am hungry again, so lets hope lunch is more successful.
