Hello friends. Now that you are pretty much caught up on the baby story, it is time for me to blog about other items of equal importance, namely my parents 60th birthday party!
I think I mentioned that Mom and Dad both turn 60 this year (Dad in January and Mom in March). The big 6-0 was too much of an opportunity to pass up celebrating, so K and I tossed around the idea of throwing a bash and Mom and Dad happily obliged and helped us as we started the planning process.
As everything came together, we got more and more excited about the party. As a treat to Mom, we planned for the day of the event to take her on a shopping spree that afternoon, then to get her nails and make-up done for the party. Dad was planning on hanging around the house and finishing last minute details until Thursday night when a pesky eye emergency decided to rouse its evil head.
Remember last summer when Dad had an eye surgery and was on bed rest for like 8 weeks? Well, this time he had a retinal hemorrhage in his OTHER eye. His good eye. The bad eye (the one he had the major surgery on last year is still healing and because of all of the drops is still dilated pretty much 24/7. Anyway, all this to say he did not need problems with his other eye. Due to these complications, he laid low all Saturday until us gals arrived home from our pamper fest and until it was time to get ready for the party.
We arrived home, took care of a few last minute details including getting the drinks on ice, setting out the food and making final cleaning touches and before we knew it the guests were beginning to arrive. Here are some photos of our afternoon out with Mom!
