Howdy yall! It’s been a busy few weeks around here! From a Spa Birthday Party to now a new baby snoozing next to me, we are happy and maybe, just maybe a bit sleepy! 😉
We welcomed a baby BOY into the world last weekend and the kids (and us!) are smitten. We have hit the ground running and I have lots to share on that. Knowing that we would soon be having a baby, we celebrated Annie M’s SIXTH birthday a few weeks ago – and then again (and again) this past week on her actual day!
When I asked her what kind of party she wanted, she did not hesitate to tell me she wanted a spa party. She is all girl and the nails, mirror decorating and mini facials was right up her alley! I know it looks like a lot, but it was actually pretty easy to pull off! She was SO happy and her friends had the most fun and my mama heart (and large pregnant belly) were full of joy.
People asked how I managed to pull it off at almost full term pregnant, while working 30 hours a week, while keeping up with my other three…well, the answer to that is that I started planning WEEKS ago, started gathering party supplies weeks ago (which also helps spread out the party budget) and then when it came to party time, I accepted help.
My sister came over the night before to help me decorate and for the actual party, I hired three of our babysitters to come help. I paid them $25 each to help with all of the little girls and that may have been the best money spent on the entire thing.
For the actual party, our helpers (a.k.a. spa workers) helped the girls decorate mirrors with jewels and paint pens. While the glue on those dried, they painted their nails and then while their nails dried, they did a mini facial! It was so cute!
While the girls had their masks on, we handed out cucumbers (which some loved for their eyes and others snacked on!) and snapped all sorts of pictures! We had a photo booth too and took a few pictures using spa props before the party really got started.
Doing it like this allowed me to be host, talk to other moms, my sister to take pictures and our spa workers to facilitate and us to know my girl had the time of her life. Had I not been so pregnant, I would not have worried so much about the help, but this year, it was necessary – and worth it!!!
My sister took all of the pictures. Since I have a newborn to nurse and snuggle, I am not going to rearrange all the pictures or try to order them. Excuse the lack of order, but enjoy all of the adorableness!
Also, people always ask where I get my party supplies. I usually source a ton from Amazon and Oriental Trading. Target if I need a quick go to is always an option as well. I am including affiliate links to the items I snagged from Amazon as well as noting all that I got from Oriental Trading!
I designed the invites and if I can get my act together, in the next few days, I’ll upload a blank file for anyone who wants to use it to download. I hope to come back and show you how I made the food too. It was super easy – and the kids gobbled it up in about 0.5 seconds. Like, so fast that I didnt even have time to make me a plate!! I guess that means they liked it, and it was relatively healthy too! #winning
If you have questions about the planning, supplies or anything else we did, let me know.
Happy sixth birthday to my best girl! We love you, little Annie M!
